Black Student Union
The mission of the BSU is to provide academic support and achievement in collaboration with teachers, parents and the community. The BSU will also promote and prepare all to become contributing members of a diverse, changing world with respect and appreciation for the uniqueness of others. BSU members also educate themselves and others about African American History and Culture. Additionally, the BSU students receive scholarship and intern information and are encouraged to access and apply for all opportunities available to them.
 
The BSU is a multi-ethnic club open to all students at Albuquerque High. All members of the BSU are required to follow all the guidelines set by APS for extracurricular activities. In addition, they are required to do a minimum of three community service projects each year.

BLISS (Bettering Lives in Small Steps)

BLISS promotes safety, support and education for people in the Albuquerque community by raising awareness, volunteering, fundraising, and other activities.

Bulldog E-Sports

Bulldog E-Sports offers both casual and competitive video games at Albuquerque High School. Our competitive season runs in the Spring, but the club meets year-round. All skill levels welcome!Bulldog with game controller in mouth

Crafty Dawgs

Do you want to learn how to make fun and creative projects for yourself or as presents? Do you want to make knitted or crocheted projects for charity? Crafty Dawgs is the answer! Albuquerque High School Crafty Dawgs is a fiber art craft club that primarily focuses on knitting and crocheting. Included amongst the many crafts we have contributed to charity are crocheted mattress pads donated to the homeless through shelters and crocheted and knitted prizes for animal shelters.

DECA - "An Association of Marketing Students"

Blue and white DECA logoEARN UP TO 6 COLLEGE CREDITS, ECONOMICS AND GOVERNMENT CREDIT, AND UP TO 19.5 ELECTIVE CREDITS! This program will help prepare you for success in the world of work and as a business leader of tomorrow. Completing two years of this program will fulfill the Economics graduation requirement. By completing 3 years of this program you will receive 6 college credits for Introduction to Business and Financial Literacy from CNM. You will also be eligible for National Honors Awards from the International DECA organization. Students also have the opportunity to travel throughout the year to Marketing Conferences and competitions. Through your involvement in DECA you can also earn an academic letter all four years! You also have the opportunity to earn as many as 2 full credits per year for work experience. Through completion of this program, you will develop an understanding of economics and marketing. You will also develop business poise, confidence and leadership abilities.

International Thespian Troop 1775

International Thespian Troupe 1775 is the theatre honor society. Invitations to join Troupe 1775 come in the Spring and are based upon a student's work in theatre.

Are you curious about the performing arts? Whether it's acting, production, set design, or sound checks, there's a place for you here! We work on one show a month, so get ready for some fun! By working on the shows, you can gain hours towards membership in the troupe. Most shows are open to all students, so please check the website for audition information, or come by the Green Room (Room 601) for more information.

Mock Trial

High School Mock Trial Program helps New Mexico teens gain an understanding of the legal system by providing opportunities for school teams to participate in academic competitions where players assume attorney and witness roles in a court case.  Mock Trial helps students to improve proficiency in such basic skills as listening, speaking, reading, and reasoning, and it fosters cooperation among diverse groups of young people.

PAUSE (Peers of AHS Understanding Student Experience)

Paw and Pause in the middle, surrounded by  Peers of AHS Understanding Student ExperiencesPAUSE (Peers of AHS Understanding Student Experiences) is a student-led group that focuses on health-related issues students face at AHS. We strive to understand these problems to find solutions to then share with our peers. In the past, members have visited local health labs, become certified in mental health first aid, and some even became representatives of AHS to the District School Health Advisory Council. PAUSE members have received numerous accolades including: 2020-21 APS volunteer of the year award (team and individual) and 2020 NM Alliance of School-Based Health Centers Vision Award. During these challenging times, it's important to have a voice. So follow us @ahs.pause and join us!

Poetry Club

The AHS Poetry Club is well-known around the school and around Albuquerque. We have a passion for writing, reading, and emulating those writers who have inspired us along the way.

Our club members have competed in numerous festivals across the southwest and west coast, where they have earned several first place awards. Student work has been published locally and nationally.
